Standing In Our Truth. Four words to describe the focus and purpose of this year’s TDSB Know Your
Worth Black Youth Empowerment Conference being held on February 26th, 2022.
The Know Your Worth Black Youth Empowerment Conference began 6 years ago as a collaboration
between the TDSB’s African Heritage Month Planning Committee and the York University’s Black Law
Students Association. It is a yearly conference held in February, inviting Black students across the
TDSB to share and learn from each other in a safe space. This is a Student led conference highlighting
the experiences of Black students, activists, artists, and professionals in Toronto and the GTA.
This school year, we are going virtual again, with open dialogues and even a student talent show.
Come learn how to advocate for ourselves, rediscover the importance of self-love, learn how to stand
in our truth and be unapologetic for being ourselves.
Though the conference is virtual, please note that there is a limited number of spaces available. So please
have your students register early. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a talent
show. Students interested in the talent show, would need to upload their pre-taped performances
on the Registration Form or if you have trouble uploading, please email Koryn Marshall ().
Further to the information above, there is a Know Your Worth Scholarship for Black-identifying
graduating students. Please view the Know Your Worth Scholarship Letter for more information. In
order to donate to the scholarships, click the Know Your Worth Scholarship Donation Link. Please
note that any online donations, as well as cheques that are $25 or greater, will be tax deductible.
See you on February 26th!
