tdsbCREATES is a board-wide Arts initiative connecting local artists with classrooms through Mentorship and Residency Programs to help foster creativity while exploring visual arts, dance, drama, spoken word, film, music and multidisciplinary arts. This Program focuses on process and engagement through the Arts, while celebrating student voice, powerful ideas and creativity for all. This program is offered by the TDSB Arts Department at no cost to schools.
tdsbCREATES is presented by the TDSB Arts Department & the Toronto Arts Council.
Through TDSB Creates, spoken word artist Gloria O’koye worked with the grade 10 drama class at Leacock to develop their skills in this area. With her inspiration, the class wrote a poem that we entered into the festival, and we were invited to participate for the 2022-2023 program!
