Earlier this week Stephen Leacock hosted prospective students for Grade 8 Information Night. Parents and their children started out the evening in the auditorium where they learned about SLCI’s new IGNITE program (which includes a program emphasis on math, art, science and technology), and the other amazing features we have here at the school.
To make the night even more fun, students in Ms. Sotos’ grade 11 Food and Culture class made a wide array of desserts for our wonderful guests, including brownies, cookies, pumpkin pie bars and cupcakes. A big thank you to Rico, Ulysses, and Xinya for helping make pupusas, slaw, mozzarella sticks and meatballs.
Ms. Creary’s grade 9 Exploring Technologies class also got in the kitchen to help feed the masses. They baked a delicious batch of salted chocolate chip cookies as part of their Hospitality and Tourism unit. A few students from the tech classes also helped with some of the workshop tours in Studio 6.
A big thank you to all the staff and student volunteers who helped make the evening a great one for the community. Looking forward to seeing all the grade 8 students who visited next fall!
