The Walkie Talkie Project: SLCI Tech Students Learn from the Pros

On June 12, 2023, 8 students from Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute’s Communications Technology class got the chance to participate in The Walkie Talkie Project, presented by Seneca Polytechnic with the support of the Jane Fund.

Students got some hands-on experience with the broadcast facilities at the Seneca@York campus. They also heard from Control Room Director and Seneca School of journalism graduate Moataz Fawzy and how he carved out his career in the industry.

The Walkie Talkie Project seeks to address barriers that high school students in underserved communities can face when considering a career in journalism.

A big thank you to Seneca@York and Professor Gall for allowing this wonderful opportunity with our SLCI students.
