On March 21, our grade 9 IGNITE students participated in an all-day Wearable Tech Challenge hosted by Skills Ontario. This was an exciting event where art meets science to honor International Women’s Day.
This year’s challenge invited students to explore an inspiring blend of electrical trade skills from the construction sector with the design flair of the service sector as they created a unique wearable pin or brooch.
Using a custom kit packed with colorful felt, LED lights, batteries, and conductive thread, participants
designed a piece that highlights the theme of International Women’s Day: Accelerate Action.
Team of two Betina G. and Aabida A. were selected as challenge winners from the judges at Skills Ontario. Honourable mentions go out to designs by Mustafa M. and Darci V.
Congrats to all for their innovative hard work bringing their ideas to life during the challenge that highlighted the theme of International Women’s Day!
